The Center for Anorexia and Bulimia has been able to successfully treat a wide range of patients with Anorexia Nervosa. We have patients who are coming to treatment for the first time, and also those who have failed in multiple other eating disorder treatment programs.

This disordered eating behavior usually is an effort to solve a variety of emotional difficulties that leave the individual feeling out of control. The longer a disorder continues, the more difficult it becomes to heal. Timely intervention is one of the keys to success in healing the disease.

Assessment and Diagnosis

Every person who enters the Alta Bates Summit program undergoes a comprehensive intake evaluation that may include a diagnostic screening interview, psychiatric evaluation, nutritional assessment, medical evaluation, and possibly psychological testing. These assessments determine the individual's treatment plan and level of care.

Referral Information

We recognize that it is often very difficult to get patients to actually come in to the hospital or an outpatient program so we would like to work with you to ensure that your patients are able to successfully enter the program.

Please call us at one of the telephone numbers to the right so we can coordinate the evaluation and admission process together. The admission and medical screening process can be expedited if the patient's physician is able to submit a medical screening exam form complete with height, weight history including present weight, orthostatic vital signs, recent physical exam information, EKG and labwork (including electrolytes, magnesium, phosporus, and CBC).
